Dale Kristensen
Had a pretty unique opportunity at the Whig-Standard yesterday.
I was assigned to write a story about an upcoming openhouse-like event at Queen's and focus the story around one area that will be open to the public.
Every day on my way to the office, I would see this greenhouse that sits on top of one of the University buildings. I really wanted to find a way to get in and shoot but I didnt have a reason - yet.
Dale Kristensen, manager of the phytotron at Queen's University stands in one of six greenhouse compartments that are in the facility. The phytotron, which sits atop the BioSciences building, will be available for tours on Monday and Tuesday of next week. (Adam Jackson/The Whig-Standard).

26-year-old St. Lawrence College student Jesse Faulkner has entered a proposal into a Pepsi contest that could see him winning a $100,000 grant to make his dream of running a youth centre in Kingston a reality. (Adam Jackson/The Whig-Standard).
Doug Gilmour
Had the opportunity to shoot NHL legend Doug Gilmour at the K-Rock Centre in Kingston, where he coaches the Kingston Frontenacs.
Although I set the lights and props up before-hand, I only had access to the former NHL star for about three minutes - he's a busy man.

Debt Clock
Had a quick opportunity to shoot the Canadian Debt Clock today in Kingston.
Set up this shot with City Hall in the background...unfortunately, the truck was parked in a handicap zone and we were both threatened with a ticket if we didn't move right away. So a 15 minute opportunity turned into a 3 minute one.
I'm just glad everything worked out just right technically so I could get this shot and get out of there.

The debt clock is an electronic ticker that has traveled across Canada showing Canadians the current Federal debt. The tour was launched in Feb. and will keep running until April. Maple Madness
Shot kind of a cool event today, the Maple Madness event in Kingston. Reminded me of the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival back home.
I decided instead of creeping around with a camera that I would follow one family while they ate pancakes, went on a tour and just enjoyed the outdoors.
Zedan Cochrane, 7, chows down on a pancake during the annual Maple Madness event at the Cataraqui Conservation area. The event, which includes a wagon ride, pancakes and a tour of the sugar bush runs from Mar. 12 to Apr. 3. (Adam Jackson/The Whig-Standard).
